The Ultimate Guide To Collaborating With Other Facebook Groups

The Ultimate Guide To Collaborating With Other Facebook Groups

A lot has been said about how to grow a Facebook group and increase Facebook group engagement.

Yet collaborating with other Facebook groups remains one of the least talked about things.

Despite the fact that it can do wonders for the Facebook groups (in terms of both growth and engagement) who partner with each other.

But, not anymore.

By means of this article, I intend to share with you every single thing about collaborating with other Facebook groups.

Expect the information to be around:

So, without further ado, let’s dive right into knowing it all.

4 amazing advantages of collaborating with other Facebook groups

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”🤝

Owing to this saying, sharing with you the benefits of partnering with other Facebook groups.

1. Spurt in your Facebook group engagement and growth

That’s what the whole idea of collaborating with other Facebook groups rests on.

Any activities you host together, you inspire members to join each other’s group. Simultaneously, encourage them to comment / share which will increase your Facebook group engagement.

2. Discover new hashtags for your Facebook group

As a power admin, you are constantly using relevant hashtags in each of your posts so that your content is more discoverable amongst the members.

When you collaborate with other Facebook groups, you and the other admins can share your hashtags list with each other.

This way you will come across all the top and relevant keywords that each of you are using in your Facebook groups, helping make your content even more discoverable.

3. Learn about new SPAM words

Just like new hashtags, you will be able to learn about new keywords to mark as spam for your group. This will help in even tighter moderation, making the community experience even better for members.

4. Keep track and remove members who share spammy content

Thanks to your decision to collaborate with other Facebook groups! You will be able to know in advance if a member has been reported by the other group for sharing spammy content.

When you have this information, you can easily block/delete the person beforehand. That too in all your Facebook groups.

Facebook recently introduced this feature (called block lists) that helps admins stay on top of spammy user profiles and take action on them for all their Facebook groups at a single time.

Here’s a sneak peek into this feature and a few others that were rolled out by the platform recently.

How to choose which Facebook groups to partner with?

It’s simple.

You can partner with both: Facebook groups in your niche and Facebook groups of other niche that complement yours.

For the latter, you must keep a tab on the conversations happening within your Facebook group. That will be an excellent source of information for you.

For instance, if you have a parenting community exclusively for women, you can partner with other female parenting communities out there.

On the other hand, you can even partner with health, fitness groups, makeup, beauty, lifestyle groups, cooking groups, and even buy and sell groups that are strictly female-only.

All of these groups complement each other. Mommies and to-be mommies of your community would more than love to gain knowledge about health and fitness. They will likely be interested in makeup, beauty, lifestyle tips and would want to know about new recipes and explore avenues for online shopping.

If you have a female only Facebook group, that’s maybe city-specific, or anything alike, you should list down all the topics your members like to talk about, sort them into categories, and there you have it. A list of all the different niches of Facebook groups that you can collaborate with.

I’ll take another example to make things more clear.

Let’s say, you have a gender neutral food group (for both veg and non-veg food), you can collaborate with other such food groups, to begin with.

At the same time, you can also partner with:

  • Female only food groups (for both veg and non-veg food)
  • Female only food groups (for either veg or non-veg food)
  • Male only food groups (for both veg and non-veg food)
  • Male only food groups (for either veg or non-veg food)

Here, to collaborate with food groups in a different niche, you need to pay attention to your target audience. Who they are and what they do.

For instance, your food group has the following set of people:

  • Bachelors
  • Homemakers
  • Cooking enthusiasts
  • Working professionals

Basis this, here are the different group categories you can collaborate with:

  1. Parenting groups (both female and male)
  2. Health and fitness groups
  3. Baking groups

Similarly, if you have a health group, you can partner with parenting groups, cooking groups, general buy and sell groups, and so on.

Rinku Shah, the admin of Fitness2Flash, partnered with 5 Facebook groups sometime back.

Hers is a women-only health and fitness group (as you can tell from the name). She collaborated with women-only lifestyle communities and all 6 of them hosted a competition and giveaway.

It was a huge success (as Rinku mentioned in the snapshot above) and when she posted this in our community, Growth and Monetisation for Facebook Group Admins, the other admins expressed interest in future collaborations.

Have a look yourself.

Interesting, isn’t it?

6 activities you can do after collaborating with other Facebook groups

Collaboration, though a very effective way to grow and engage your groups better, takes a lot of input and careful execution to achieve.

Ergo, sharing with you a few ideas that will help you rock it!

1. Introduce your partner admin in your group

Create a dedicated post where you tell all about their achievements and how they are as a person. Most importantly, share their group link in the post and tell members how your partner admin is providing value to the members in there.

Seeing this, members will be enticed to be a part of their group.

Similarly, your partner admin will do it for you in their Facebook group.

2. Go live in each other’s Facebook group

Live videos are an awesome way to increase your Facebook group engagement. So, make the most of it.

Prime your members in advance about a meaningful live session and let them know they will gain a lot of value from it. This will build up the excitement and ensure maximum attendance.

P.S. Do make sure that your posts are really attractive and engaging!

During the live session, introduce your partner admin, tell members about their group, and encourage them to be a part, if it aligns with their likes and interests.

3. Host competitions and giveaways together

Just like Rinku and other partner admins did.

You can come up with some amazing contest ideas and lay down the following rules:

  • Invite at least 3 people
  • Follow your partner admins’ Facebook group
  • Ask members to comment when they do

It can be a 3-5 day long competition post in which you can announce the winners.

Doing this will ensure:

  • More members in your group as members will tag and invite their friends
  • More engagement as members will comment when they invite
  • Spreading the word about partner admins’ Facebook group and helping it grow along with your own

4. Share your experts

If you know an expert in your focus area, share them with your partner admin.

Let them go live in their group, provide value, and also talk about how they have helped members in your group.

This way members will gain some valuable information, know about your group, the benefits of being a part of it, and will likely join.

5. Run a buddy project with members

This one is an interesting new concept!

Ask the experienced people in your Facebook group to partner with other members and join your partner admins’ Facebook group.

Post joining, they can provide value to the members in the partner admins’ group and simultaneously share with them the value provided in your Facebook group.

The members of the other Facebook group will likely join your group if it interests them.

Likewise, the partner admins’ experienced people can join your Facebook group and provide value there.

For instance, a parenting group has collaborated with a food group. A few female members of the food group can share some interesting baby food recipes or other recipes in general. Simultaneously, the mommies of the parenting group can share their food hacks/ recipe ideas in the food group.

6. Create a combined pitch deck

Showcase your groups as partners and create a common pitch deck. You will have a higher total number of members and better engagement rate, creating a much sweeter deal for the brands.

For example, 3-4 food groups can come together and create a combined pitch deck, showcasing the competitions and contests you’ve hosted together and the value you were able to create.

Now, allow me to share with you how you can reach out to the admins of those Facebook groups.

How to connect with the admins of other Facebook groups?

After identifying the different Facebook group categories you’d like to partner with, you need to shortlist Facebook groups.

For that, you can search for relevant groups, become a part of them, and see the quality of conversations there.

Check the engagement rate and activity rate of those groups. You can choose to collaborate with those Facebook groups that have an engagement rate of over 100% only.
