While running a Facebook Group community isn’t a popularity contest, there are undeniable perks that come to admins that have a relatively popular FB Group.
Speaking engagements, media appearances, paid consulting gigs, and other income opportunities can come knocking if you have a popular Facebook Group.
While at Convosight, we preach organic Facebook Group growth in order to build a long-lasting, and sustainable community—it doesn’t hurt looking at other opportunities to make your Facebook Group stand out and become known in your industry or area.
In this blog post, I’ll share with you some strategies on how to make your Facebook Group popular so that you too can unlock opportunities to grow your income and become a full-time Community Entrepreneur.
Start With A Remarkable Name
It all begins with your Facebook Group’s name. Choosing the perfect name is crucial to your community’s potential popularity and success down the line.
If you have an easy to remember name for your group, people will be able to share it with their friends and keep coming back to it via Facebook search.
What happens when you have a great name for your Facebook Group is that you achieve two things:
- Your group will appear in Facebook search more often for relevant keywords, leading to more people discovering your community.
- People will be able to refer you to their friends or share about your community with others because the name is both relevant and easy to remember.
You can follow this formula for naming your Facebook Group: Pain point / Passion area + Target Audience
Take this example of our Convosight’s community, Growth and Monetisation for Facebook Group Admins.
The pain point is growth and monetisation, while the target audience are Facebook Group Admins.
We combined them to form a name that’s easy and explicitly tells who the group is for and what problem it helps solve.
Now what do you think happens when other Facebook Group Admins encounter other admins in meetups or group chats? It’s easy to bring up the Growth and Monetisation for Facebook Group Admins to other admins and refer the group to help them with their needs.
How popular your Facebook Group isn’t always about how many members you have. If the community becomes the no-brainer recommendation in your industry, then that means you’re popular.

Create Amazing Content For Your Facebook Group
If you want your Facebook Group to become popular and be the talk-of-the-town, you need to step up your content game.
People love Facebook Groups that have top-notch content. The content is what keeps people coming back.
If your FB Group doesn’t have great content where members either LEARN something or are entertained—chances are, your group won’t have much activity going on inside.
My advice for Facebook Group Admins who want to create content that members will love is simple. Create content that fits one of these three things:
When you create content, make sure it fits one of the three categories. It should be educational, or entertaining, or empowering… If a piece of content has all three, then that’s a home run!
Facebook Group members love to learn new things. In fact—it could be the very reason they joined your group! The moment your Facebook Group no longer adds value to your member, they are less likely to come back.
To ensure that you are providing value that not only makes them come back, but also talk about your group—invest in creating great content.
It doesn’t have to be difficult. You can use free tools like Canva to create graphic posts to make things interesting. You can also check Unsplash.com, a free stock photo website where you can grab beautiful photos to post in your group.
You don’t have to be a wordsmith or a great artist to create awesome posts! As long as you have a clear objective in mind, and you are creating to educate, entertain, or empower your members, then you are 100% golden!
Invite Influencers To A Facebook Live Session
One of the fastest ways to make your Facebook Group popular is to ride someone else’s popularity!
Invite an influencer or a relevant resource person to guest on a Facebook Live interview inside your community.
If the person you are inviting has followers of their own, chances are that they will promote the Facebook Live session in their community or page too. This means you can get some of those followers to tune in and join your Facebook Group.
At the very least, the shares and engagement that the session can drive will be valuable!
Another thing to keep in mind is that once you land a big fish to interview, you can invite other influencers much easier.
If you can create a solid pipeline of influencers and key resource people to interview and guest inside your Facebook Group—you are more likely to drive interest to your community.

Cross-Promotion With Other Facebook Groups
Another way to fast track your Facebook Group’s growth and popularity is to cross-promote with another Facebook Group.
This would require having a relationship with other Facebook Group Admins to collaborate with. You can’t just waltz in and promote your group inside other Facebook Groups. That’ll probably result in you getting blocked or kicked out altogether!
If you’re looking for other Facebook Group Admins to collaborate with, you can join our community and watch out for Collab Fridays. Alternatively, you can also reach out to Facebook Group Admins of communities that you resonate with. Simply let them know that you would love to collaborate and do a cross-promotion.
You won’t always get a ‘yes’, so it’s best to keep trying and reach out to admins that run groups that have good synergy with your community.
Contests, Challenges, Giveaways
If you’re still wondering how to make your Facebook Group popular, one of the fastest ways to do it is by creating events and gimmicks that your members can be excited about!
This can come in the form of contests, where you give away prizes. You can also just do giveaways where people who comment or engage can be eligible to win.
Another easy win can be running challenges. If you have a Facebook Group about fitness, you can do a 7-day workout challenge. If your group is about writing, you can try hosting a 14-day Writing challenge.
The more you come up with these gimmicks that can engage and excite your Facebook Group members, the faster your group can become popular.
Having a popular Facebook Group can lead to more potential income, but it isn’t guaranteed. However, making an effort to raise your group’s popularity and credibility can have a lot of short-term and long-term benefits as well.
Ultimately, do your best and follow these tips to see results. But remember—don’t just do it for the money. Earning with your Facebook Group also requires a lot of patience and hard work.
Having a popular Facebook Group is a great step in the right direction though.
